The George Clinical Data Management group offers end to end Data Management services for phase I – IV and post-marketing clinical trials, as well as tailored services for academic research trials.  Our goal is to provide flexible solutions for our customers and we offer a range of database options to suit study requirements. Fully validated and CFR part 11 compliant systems used include InForm and Medrio; and options for academic research trials include REDCap.

Our Data Management team members are based in our Australian and Indian offices and have a varied background of Pharma and CRO. They have a vast array of experience across different study types and CDMS systems, in multiple therapeutic areas including Cardiovascular, Oncology, Respiratory and Infectious Diseases.

This month, we are profiling three of our Data Management personnel, showcasing our breadth and depth of expertise. With our ability to offer a range of systems, this underpins our goal to support our customers with a wide range of solutions, no matter the study design or size.

Nick Blacklock – Team Lead, Sydney

Nick has a bachelor degree in Mathematical Science from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, and has over 21 years of experience in a variety of roles in SAS programming and Data Management within CRO’s and also Global Pharma.

Prior to joining George Clinical in 2011, Nick held senior positions at Roche in Sydney as a Manager of Clinical Programming and Database Design and Extraction, where he was responsible for the team providing database solutions, data integrations and reporting across a wide range of phases. Nick has used extensively Climed, Clintrial, Oracle Clinical, InForm, RAVE and SAS.

Dominic Byrne – Senior Data Manager, Sydney

Dominic has a bachelor degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering from the University of Dublin (Ireland). Prior to joining the George Institute in 2009, Dom has worked in leading CRO’s in Europe and Australia, acting as a lead data manager for phase I-IV clinical trials for various indications.

Over the last nine years, Dom has been responsible for all areas of data management including CRF design, database build, data validation, coding and the database lock process. He has used a variety of database options, such as Clintrial, Oracle Clinical, InForm, REDCap and Medrio, as well as developing his SAS programming skills. He has also provided input into clinical study protocols and clinical study report reviews.

Mahesh Basavaraj – Data Manager, Bangalore

Mahesh has a bachelor degree in Electronics from Bangalore University, and brings with him more than 8 years of experience in Indian based CRO’s. Prior to joining the George Institute in 2011, Mahesh worked in TCS as Team Leader handling data management activities of various data management projects. Prior to TCS, Mahesh has worked at Clinsys Clinical Research and Accenture.

Over the last ten years, Mahesh has been responsible for various activities from CRF designing, database testing, edit check specifications, data validation, database lock process and reporting of metrics.  He has been responsible for managing and coordinating activities of the team for multiple data management projects at a strategic and individual project level ensuring timelines, quality, and budgetary targets are met. He has worked extensively with a variety of CDMS, including Oracle Clinical, Clinplus, TrialStat and InForm.
